How to combine several PDF files into one
Updated 16 October 2026
Combining PDFs is useful whenever someone asks for “one file”: an application with a CV, a cover letter and certificates, monthly statements for an accountant, or the chapters of a report.
Merge PDFs in four steps
- Open Merge PDF and add your files. You can drop several at once and add more later.
- Put them in order: drag a file up or down, or use its arrow buttons. The file at the top comes first.
- Select Merge.
- Download
merged.pdf.
Each file shows its number of pages, so you can check that everything is there before you merge. A file protected with a password asks for it first; a damaged file is marked, and you can remove it without starting over.
Adding photos or scans
Merge PDF combines PDF files. To add a photo or a scanned page, first turn it into a PDF with Image to PDF, then add that PDF to the merge. Several photos can go into a single PDF in one step.
Changing pages after merging
To reorder, rotate or delete single pages in the combined file, open it in Organize PDF. You see every page as a thumbnail and can drag pages into place, turn sideways scans upright, or remove blank pages.
What is kept
The pages are copied as they are, including text, images and links. Two things are not carried over into the merged file: bookmarks (the outline some PDF viewers show in a sidebar) and fillable form fields. If you need to fill a form, fill it before you merge, for example with Fill PDF form, and flatten it.
Large files
Merging works with large files, because it runs on your own device instead of a server. If the merged PDF is too big to send, compress it afterwards.
Your files are not uploaded: they are combined in your browser.
